The category is...RUNWAY! What's up y'all and welcome back to STYLD 101. I've missed you guys so much but a bitch is back so let's get into it! It's Christmas in September for all fashion junkies. The most wonderful time of the year and one of my faves, fashion week! This go round, designers have been showing off their S/S collections. This fashion week consists of designers such as: Prabal Gurung, Christian Cowan, Nicole Miller, Phillip Lim, Kim Shui, & many more. It's no tea, no shade that these runways are typically not filled with models that look like you or me, but this year I'm loving the variety, diversity & inclusiveness of the models that designers are casting. Although I feel as the the previous fashion week had better collections, I was very pleased with the shows this year.

There were still a few shows that I really enjoyed and I'm always eager to see what hits the runway and to see all of the hard work in these collections being brought to life for the public to see. Although there's a lot of fashions going on on the runways, the street style is truly unmatched. Before I get too caught off guard, let's get into who were my favorite shows during fashion week:

8. GYPSY SPORT

Gypsy is typically known for their out of the ordinary pieces and their fashion show was no different. I love that you never know what you're going to get out of the brand because that's what keeps it excited. What I had took a way from the show was kind of an intergalactic meets thrift store meets streetwear and it was everything. I enjoyed this show not only because of the clothing, but the glam, accessories, and choice of styling on the models that had went into. As previously stated, they are known for being out of the ordinary and it was just that.

FAVORITE LOOKS FROM THE COLLECTION:

7. JEREMY SCOTT

It's giving me very much David Bowie, 80s realness! With Jeremy Scott being the creative director behind Moschino, his designs are always whimsical, fun, & playful. I take it that he was feeling very nostalgic and he took us down memory lane with him. The collection was very colorful which is always refreshing to see because I feel like most designers lose that aspect in their collections. The collection made me want to turn on some KISS & rock out to it while wearing skin-tight leather pants. One thing I love about Jeremy is that he's very consistent and when he has a theme he sticks to it and in a way, his collections tell a story. Brava!

FAVORITE LOOKS FROM THE COLLECTION:

6. CHRISTOPHER JOHN ROGERS

Before this NYFW I wasn't hip to Mr. Rogers, but now I have no choice BUT to stan. 10s across the board, his show was truly stellar and his pieces were vibrant and full of color & the choice of styling on the models which had popped the colors even more. Ugh, his mind! Like I said before, not too many designers play with color so it's always refreshing to see who designers who take that step. I love how he put his own twist on evening-wear and made it into something special to where you won't see it anywhere. Truly an amazing collection.

FAVORITE LOOKS FROM THE COLLECTION:

5. NO SESSO

We love a black owned brand! I recently discovered this brand a few months ago and I've been in love ever since, it's all-inclusive and their pieces are always bomb. I absolutely loved the collection, it gave me a late 90s/early 2000s meets modern day aesthetic, especially for the menswear and also cause you don't see much menswear on the runway as well. One of my favorite things about the collection were the airbrush tees, it took me back to my young summer mall days with a sno-cone in hands. If you know me, you know I live for streetwear so this was def one of my faves shows. Matter of fact, if you see this girl don't be scared to send me a few pieces. (I'll DM you my sizes.)

FAVORITE LOOKS FROM THE COLLECTION:

4. CHROMAT

Before we even get into the collection, I would just like to give a big round of applause to the casting on this show. Honestly, probably one of the most diverse and inclusive NYFW runway show I've ever seen and it was so beautiful to see. They had models for every race, height, sexuality, body size, etc. We love to see it! Things they did: THAT! This collection gave me exactly what it was: athleisure meets fashion. It's like going to the gym...but make it fashion. I could be going to your nigga house or out with my girls, it was so much versatility to this collection and I loved it.

FAVORITE LOOKS FROM THE COLLECTION:

3. AREA

The cultural influence was definitely there and the art that went into this collection is truly superb, I literally gagged when I saw this collection. The draping of the name chains was amazing and the placements of them were very well thought out. One aspect I loved about this collection would have to be the hair and the accessories. Glam is everything when it comes to runway, not only do people come to see the garments, they come to see the whole shebang. I love designers who take that extra step because details are so important and they complete the aesthetic. I also loved that they had "Area" translated into different languages and incorporated that.

FAVORITE LOOKS FROM THE COLLECTION:

2. PYER MOSS

Kerbito really did it this time, this was such a black ass collection. His ability to combine art & music into this collection is truly such a piece of fucking work and that's not even me talking about the production of the show. He always pushes the bar and will forever reign as one of my favorite designers, at this point...I'm just going to let the collection do the talking because I don't have enough words.

FAVORITE LOOKS FROM THE COLLECTION:

1. LAQUAN SMITH

TOP FUCKING TIER. Alexa, play "Daddy Lessons" by Beyoncé. This collection is the south meets hoe and I'm living for every single piece. It was so hard picking between this & Pyer for #1 but something about the hoesthetics in this collection really set a fire in me. I love how he always gives off a streetwear meets high fashion vibe and that's literally my brand and everything I stand for. I can def see my good sis Thee Stallion in one of these pieces soon, you heard it here first.
