what's good y'all? welcome back to STYLD 101, it's your favorite fashion blogger and I'm back w/ another post! as we all know, 45 has the world in a shit of emergency leaving outside closed and forcing billions of humans to stay in their homes. who would've thought at the beginning of this year, or just in general, that we would be in the middle of a pandemic, but what does that leave for the world of fashion? the first act of COVID-19 affecting the fashion world was due to the rescheduling of the Met Gala. for those who are not aware of what the event is or wondering, the Met Gala is held the first Monday in May of every year held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City. it is an fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. due to coronavirus scares, we will have to sacrifice one of the biggest nights in fashion while miss rona continues to fuck everything up for us. before announcing the cancellation of this year's

gala, they revealed the theme of this year's event would be “About Time: Fashion and Duration," which was inspired by Virginia Woolf and the theories of the French philosopher, Henri Bergson. Andrew Bolton, British museum and head curator of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute, sat down w/ New York Times and provided a brief analysis of the theme. he stated, “Fashion is indelibly connected to time. It not only reflects and represents the spirit of the times, but it also changes and develops with the times.”
being that last year's MET theme was CAMP, inspired by Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay “Notes on ‘Camp,” I was not only excited to see the fashions this year, but the stars that would be in attendance. back in mid to late march, London & Paris week had also been cancelled due to the corona. according to Vogue Magazine, the S/S 2021 men’s shows would have taken place June 23-28 and the following week, the continuation of shows would have followed w/ couture, which would have taken place from July 5 to July 9. along w/ other fashion lovers, I was not very pleased to hear about the cancellation of the shows. for me, fashion and creating any form of fashion is therapy to me, to have the privilege of being able to see that w/o having to be there & now it's being stripped away from, once again, not only myself, but other fashion lovers is very unsettling for me. fashion week is the super bowl in the fashion world and not being able to see this season's shows is really upsetting me and my homegirls! b/c if you can't go to fashion week then where the hell can you go?!

being a lover of fashion I had decided to do my research. one day while reading Vogue's article, I read that they had the chance to speak w/ the French fashion’s governing body, the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, who had ultimately came up w/ the decision officially canceled the upcoming men’s and couture fashion weeks. *sheds tear* the article had also stated, "The Camera Nazionale della Moda also promises new ways of exhibiting fashion. “We are working on new digital formats and new ways of encounter, in order to create a new storytelling on the days originally scheduled for the Milan Men’s Fashion Week: B2B and B2C platforms for the benefit of brands, luxury companies, and all the other players in the fashion industry,” reads a release from the group." with that being said, for all of my fashion girlies don't get your hopes up! it also brings me back to with everything going on, how do we move forward? what does this mean for the world of fashion? is it going to go digital?
